As part of the "i Yunnan: Zheng He Cultural Exchange Event" in August, students and teachers from the University of Malaya visited the Yunnan Museum of Ethnology in Kunming.

They explored traditional costumes and crafts, discovering cultural connections between Yunnan batik and Malaysian batik. Local intangible cultural heritage inheritors of Miao embroidery, Bai tie-dye, and batik shared their skills and innovative works inspired by the voyages of Zheng He (1371-1433), the legendary Chinese seafarer.

Under Bai tie-dye inheritor's guidance, participants created patterns of anchors and waves, symbolizing a renewed dialogue across seas after 600 years.
