Several universities in Guangdong province have announced emergency subsidies for students whose families have been affected by recent flooding across China.

The measures aim to ensure the continued learning and well-being of students facing financial hardships, the institutions said on Tuesday.

Sun Yat-sen University said it had set up a hotline and dedicated email for students to apply for aid. Students affected by flooding in Gansu and other regions are encouraged to submit proof of their family's situation via university platforms or directly seek assistance from teachers and counsellors.

The university stressed its commitment to monitoring the situation in disaster-stricken areas and providing continuous support to all students, it said.

Similarly, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies has launched a temporary hardship subsidy program for students whose families have been impacted by the recent rainstorms and floods.

South China Agricultural University has activated its emergency response mechanism, advising affected students to contact their college counsellors for support.

Shenzhen University, Guangzhou University, Guangdong Pharmaceutical University and Shantou University have also pledged assistance, saying they are closely monitoring the situation and will provide financial aid to those in need.
