PLA to conduct live-fire drill near Myanmar border

The People's Liberation Army's Southern Theater Command will conduct a joint live-fire drill on the Chinese side of the China-Myanmar border starting on Tuesday, a spokesperson said on Tuesday morning.
The Theater Command spokesperson Tian Junli said in a news release that the command will deploy both ground and air forces for the exercise.
The drill aims to test the command's capabilities in reconnaissance and early warning, multidimensional blockade and firepower strike, he said.
The command's troops are always prepared to respond to various emergencies, resolutely safeguarding national sovereignty, border stability, and the safety of people's lives and property, the statement said.
