People's call for reunion

During the period of confrontation and separation across the Taiwan Strait, many families endured the pain of being forced to part.
In 1979, the Chinese mainland issued the "Message to Compatriots in Taiwan", an appeal to reconnect with the people across the Strait. Since then, family letters travelled many places before finally reaching the hands of waiting family members. Driven by the aspirations of the Taiwan compatriots for reunion, the door to cross-Strait exchanges finally opened in 1987.
The documentary series, Stories across the Strait, reveals the scars of history that call for reunion.
