Omicron case reported in Hangzhou

One COVID-19 case — the Omicron variant — was reported at Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine at 10 pm on Tuesday, Wang Xuchu, deputy director of the Hangzhou health commission said at a news conference on Wednesday.
The patient, surnamed Gan, was diagnosed with the Omicron variant of the coronavirus and works at the Huierte Catering Equipment Co in Hangzhou. The patient was classified as a confirmed case earlier on Wednesday.
By 3:30 pm, a total of 553 close contacts with the patient and 808 secondary close contacts had been quarantined and tested. Test results of 17 of 197 environmental samples were positive.
According to Gao Chong, deputy head of Binjiang district in Hangzhou, emergency supplies have been reserved and 170,000 packs with necessities can be distributed every day.
