Environmental measures on track for a beautiful country, Xi says

People will see a fundamental improvement in the environment and the country will reach the targets set for building a Beautiful China by 2035, Xi Jinping said in an address at the opening of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China on Wednesday.
Xi, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, stressed the promotion of the construction of an ecological civilization in China, saying modernization in China aims to achieve harmony between human and nature.
China will promote green growth via a series of measures, including policies on production and consumption, fueling the environmental protection services, and promoting green finance.
On major pollution, China will make greater efforts to ensure a better environment, he said, and the government will continue efforts to win the fight against air pollution, and strengthen measures to tackle water and soil pollution.
Xi said China will lead the construction of an ecological civilization and there will be new organs to manage State-owned natural resources and assets.
