(Xinhua) Updated: 2012-10-10 11:33

ISLAMABAD - At least five people were killed in a US drone strike launched early Wednesday morning in Pakistan's northwest tribal area of North Waziristan, reported local media.

Local Urdu TV channel Geo quoted unidentified sources as saying that four missiles were fired by US drones at a living compound suspected of being a militant hideout in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan in the wee hours of Wednesday, killing at least five suspected militants.

Identities of the killed are not known at this moment.

According to Xinhua's tally, Wednesday's strike is the 32nd of its kind (counted on daily basis) in 2012. So far this year at least 227 people have been killed in such strikes.
