Shanghai Municipality Regulations on Smoking Control in Public, considered to be a particularly rigorous smoking ban, will be put into effect from March.
According to the new regulations, smoking is banned in indoor public places, workplaces and public transport vehicles; all the existing indoor smoking areas will be canceled. Companies or offices violating the rules will be penalized from 2,000 yuan ($291) to 30,000 yuan ($4,367).
