The sandwich is said to get its name from the fourth Earl of Sandwich in the 18th century. He enjoyed playing cards and instead of stopping for a full meal, he put some meat in-between two slices of bread so his fingers wouldn't get greasy when eating.

Why are sandwiches still so popular now? What are people's favourite sandwich fillings? Find out more in this episode of Delicious Dishes.
