Tianjin, briefly named as Jin, is the largest open city along the coastline in northern China. The city is administered as a municipality with provincial-level status. Tianjin is located in the economic centre of Bohai Bay Rim area with automobile and machinery, electronics, chemical industry, metallurgy as its four pillar industries. Textile and food processing are Tianjin’s traditional dominating industries, whereas the outputs of TV set and caustic soda rank top five in the country.
In 2008, Tianjin’s GDP has totaled 910.83 billion yuan.
天津簡(jiǎn)稱津，是中國(guó)北方最大的沿海開放城市，中央直轄市之一，33個(gè)省級(jí)市政府之一。天津地處環(huán)渤海地區(qū)經(jīng)濟(jì)中心,已形成汽車及機(jī)械、電子、化工、冶金四大支柱產(chǎn)業(yè)。紡織與食品工業(yè)是天津傳統(tǒng)優(yōu)勢(shì)產(chǎn)業(yè)，彩電、燒堿產(chǎn)量均居全國(guó)前五位。

Tianjin is China’s well-known historical and cultural city and a famous tourism city. It is the transportation hub connecting the northeast, northern, eastern and southern China railways. Tianjin port is the largest artificial harbor, which has established business connections with more than 160 countries and 300 harbors in the world. The handling volume of Tianjin port has surpassed 50 million tons.
