Hunan province is briefly named Xiang, with Changsha as the provincial seat. Hunan is situated in south region of China and on middle stream of Yangtze River. Hunan is called the land of “fish and rice” for its large output of fish and rice. With a long history behind it, Hunan is rich in resources and products with its origin of economy and trade dating back to ancient times. In 2008, Hunan’s GDP totaled RMB 1.11564 trillion, ranking 11th in the country. The population of permanent residents in Hunan is 63.55 million, with a per capita GDP of RMB 17,521.
湖南省簡(jiǎn)稱湘，省會(huì)城市為長(zhǎng)沙。湖南地處中國(guó)中南部，長(zhǎng)江中游，因魚和大米產(chǎn)量很大，號(hào)稱魚米之鄉(xiāng)。湖南歷史悠久，物產(chǎn)豐富，經(jīng)濟(jì)貿(mào)易源遠(yuǎn)流長(zhǎng)。2008年全省生產(chǎn)總值11156.64億元，位居全國(guó)第十一位。常住人口達(dá)6355萬人，人均生產(chǎn)總值17521元。
Hunan has a full range of industry categories, forming an initial structure of industrial systems with metallurgy, machinery, electronics, foodstuffs, energy and building materials as the mainstays. Transportation in Hunan is convenient, with a three-dimensional transport network integrating railways, highways, waterways and aviation. Rich in mineral resources, Hunan is an important mineral base in the country, usually called “l(fā)and of nonferrous metals”, or “l(fā)and of nonmetals” as it is called in recent years.
湖南的工業(yè)門類齊全，已初步形成以冶金、機(jī)械、電子、食品、能源、建材等工業(yè)為主體的產(chǎn)業(yè)結(jié)構(gòu)體系。湖南交通便利，已建立起鐵路、公路、水運(yùn)、航空相結(jié)合的立體運(yùn)輸網(wǎng)絡(luò)。湖南礦藏資源豐富,是全國(guó)的重要的礦產(chǎn)基地,素有“有色金屬之鄉(xiāng)”之稱,近又被譽(yù)為“非金屬之鄉(xiāng)”。
