The Railway Comprehensive Information Service System, approved by the
Ministry of Railways, has been successfully installed in the No 1477 train from
Beijing to Zhenjiang, east China's Jiangsu Province, by Beijing EPIN Travelers
Information Service Ltd.
This means China has realized wireless net in trains, which is one of the
measures of China's railway system to serve the 2008 Technology Olympics.
The "TraiNet" information service system, including multimedia terminal and
wireless net, is developed by EPIN Technologies (China), Ltd. The new system can
provide passengers with video broadcasting, traveling information, and news from
both home and abroad. Net game and online chatting are both possible now for
train passengers.
The first installed train is operating well and welcomed by many passengers,
said a project manager. The "TraiNet" information system is expected to be
installed on 72 "Z" and "T" trains.
Railway is the preferred transportation choice in many developed countries in
recent years. China has greatly invested in upgrading railways equipments to
provide good service to passengers.
