HANOI -- Vietnam has prepared some special souvenirs for guests to the
upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings, Vietnam News Agency
reported Friday.
Vietnam's Thai Tuan Textile Company will offer them 650
traditional long dresses (ao dai) and 100 women jackets which feature bronze
drums, lotuses and conical hats, Vietnam's symbols, and the logo of APEC 2006.
The country has prepared other souvenirs bearing the Vietnamese culture
identity, including dragon-shaped boats made from precious wood and silver, and
Vietnamese-English photo albums entitled " Vietnam, my love".
  The
42cm-long boats show the idea of APEC leaders jointly sailing them, overcoming
difficulties towards a dynamic, developed and prosperous community.
  The
album with nearly 150 pictures features beauties of localities nationwide such
as Hanoi capital city, central Hue city and southern Ho Chi Minh City.
Besides, Vietnamese skillful artisans have made portraits of leaders of
APEC member economies from gemstones and colored sand to present them to the
leaders.
The APEC Summit expected to draw attendance by most of leaders
from the 21 member economies, including Chinese President Hu Jintao, U.S.
President George Bush and Russian President Vladimir Putin, and some other
important events such as the Joint Ministerial Meeting and the Chief Executive
Officer (CEO) Summit are scheduled to take place in Hanoi from November
12-19.
