China will take the initiative to open its market wider during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30), Commerce Minister Wang Wentao said at a news conference on Friday.

"Our openness will take into account both China's needs and the world's expectations," Wang said. "We will drive proactive integration with international high-standard trade and economic rules, with a focus on the service sector to expand market access."

Wang made the remarks at a news conference held by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China when elaborating the Recommendations of the CPC Central Committee for Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development.

China will accelerate the progress of regional and bilateral trade and investment agreements, and expand the network of high-standard free trade areas, Wang added.

Meanwhile, the country will shape new advantages to attract foreign investment, ensure not just market access but sound operation for foreign enterprises, and foster create a transparent, stable, and predictable institutional environment.
