The International Trade Cooperation and Invention Exhibitions will be held concurrently in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, from Aug 22 to 24, providing a high-standard platform for the exchange and commercialization of technological achievements from home and abroad, officials said on Monday.

"The China Association of Inventions plans to hold the 11th International Exhibition of Inventions, and the Belt & Road and BRICS Competition of Skills Development in Guangzhou, coinciding with the 33rd Guangzhou Fair," said He Zhenfu, vice president of the association, at a media conference in Beijing.

He said the arrangement was made with consideration of Guangzhou's prominent role as a core city in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, which boasts significant advantages in technological innovation and industrial upgrading. Hosting such events are expected to leverage the city's geographical location and resources, injecting new impetus into the high-quality development of the Greater Bay Area.

He added that the events would serve as a win-win process, where the Guangzhou Fair can strengthen international cooperation and promote the exchange of technology and skills among countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative and BRICS partners. In turn, the International Exhibition of Inventions, along with the Belt & Road and BRICS Competition of Skills Development and Technology Innovation, can leverage the advantages of this well-established platform to provide a solid foundation and broad influence for the events.

Yu Ronghua, Party secretary of the association, said that these are both measures to implement the strategy of developing a strong nation through science and technology, and concrete practice to facilitate the national strategy of building the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as a world-class science and technology innovation hub.

Gao Yuyue, deputy secretary-general of the Guangzhou government, said that the Guangzhou Fair is expected to focus on new quality productive forces, covering emerging industries such as artificial intelligence and robotics, intelligent networking and new energy vehicles, as well as the low-altitude economy and aerospace. Global innovative inventions and achievements will also be displayed at the exhibition.
