A burial ceremony has been held in Xizang's Ngari prefecture to lay to rest the remains of eight revolutionary martyrs, whose identities were only recently confirmed.

The soldiers, previously buried as unknown, were identified last year following a major excavation and DNA project led by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs. All had died more than six decades ago while serving in Xizang.

The martyrs were honored with full military rites at Ngari's Martyrs Cemetery in Shiquan River township on Sunday.

Among the martyrs, Zhang Xirong, Wei Jianhua, Chen Fuxiang, Chen Shenglin, Li Shengcai, and Guo Juhu were from Gansu province. Liu Yanbin and Xue Gending were from Shaanxi province.

At a farewell service held at the prefecture's funeral parlor, coffins draped in the national flag were carried by honor guards, as mourners bowed their heads in silence.

They were then escorted to the cemetery, where biographical tributes were read aloud, and family members delivered emotional messages.

Liu Tao, a family representative, was quoted by Xizang TV as saying: "For many years, their names were both our deepest memory and our greatest sorrow. Now their identities are confirmed, and they can finally rest beneath the land they died protecting."

Another mourner, Xue Zhenmin, paid tribute to his uncle: "Sixty-five years ago, you and your comrades sacrificed your young lives for peace and stability in Xizang. The Party and the people have not forgotten you."
