China reiterated its firm opposition on Wednesday to any attempts to tarnish its reputation under the pretext of cybersecurity concerns amid allegations linking it to a massive global hacking incident involving multiple United States agencies.

According to a report by US media outlet POLITICO, a significant flaw in a widely used Microsoft product allowed multiple "Chinese-linked" hacking groups to breach dozens of organizations across the globe, including at least two US federal agencies.

During a daily news briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun emphasized that cybersecurity presents a common challenge for all nations and should be tackled through dialogue and cooperation.

China has consistently opposed and taken action against cyber criminal activities in accordance with the law, Guo said, while emphasizing the nation's stance against unfounded accusations and attempts to defame the country under the guise of cybersecurity issues.
