China's quantum communication to be strengthened, CPPCC adviser says

During the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, China will realize a fully localized long-distance, high-speed and integrated quantum communication system compatible with classical communication technology, said quantum scientist Pan Jianwei, a member of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and an academician at the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
"As a scientist, I feel particularly excited about the country's determination in the strategic layout, which includes quantum information technology," Pan said.
"We also plan to develop mid-to-high orbit quantum satellites," he said, and that "In the field of quantum computing, we aim to realize coherent manipulation of more than a few hundred qubits that can perform beyond classical computers in solving a number of important problems."
