Chinese vice premier stresses enhancing educational oversight

BEIJING -- Vice Premier Sun Chunlan on Tuesday stressed reforming the country's educational supervision and guidance system in a bid to promote high-quality education.
"Educational supervision and guidance is an important instrument for the implementation of educational laws, regulations, guidelines, and policies," said Sun while attending a national conference on deepening the reform of China's educational supervision and guidance system.
Sun ordered efforts to continue reforming the management system, including strengthening higher-level government supervision over the performance of governments at lower levels in carrying out their educational responsibilities to ensure that the Party and the state's education policies take root.
The oversight will target the implementation of the education policy for the well-rounded development of students for a well-developed moral, intellectual, physical, and aesthetic grounding in addition to a hardworking spirit. The oversight will ensure the implementation of educational evaluation and input of educational funds.
Sun pointed out that the reform of the educational supervision and guidance system will focus on optimizing its management and operation mechanism and enhancing the authority of supervision and guidance.
