Police nix Kowloon protest over safety fears

Hong Kong police rejected on Friday an application to hold a protest on Sunday in Kowloon, citing concerns for public safety and threats to the lives of others. The police said recent protests had often been hijacked by radical protesters, and they appealed for an end to the violence for the benefit of everyone.
