Foreign ministry spokesperson urges understanding of Chinese people for business cooperation

International businesses carrying out exchanges and cooperation with China should understand what ordinary Chinese people think, Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said on Tuesday, after Houston Rockets' General Manager Daryl Morey tweeted in support of protestors in Hong Kong.
Citing reactions made by the Chinese consulate general in Houston, the Chinese Basketball Association and partners of the Houston Rockets' in China, Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said on Tuesday that China's position over the incident is "very clear".
He also said the reactions and attitudes of ordinary Chinese people should be taken into account.
"It won't work if you exchange and cooperate with China but don't know about China's public opinion," he said.
